Royal Oak Police Press Release - Bank Robbery Suspect Captured

1811 Crooks (TCF Bank) Armed Robbery

On 04/10/13, at approximately 12:41 p.m., Royal Oak Police Officers responded to an armed robbery at the TCF Bank, located at 1811 Crooks in the City of Royal Oak.

A bank employee reported a suspect walked into the bank armed with a handgun and demanded money from the teller. The suspect received an undisclosed amount of currency and fled on foot. The suspect matched the description of the RA suspect from several other area bank robberies.

Royal Oak Officers observed a suspect matching the description fleeing the bank on foot. The suspect ran to a vehicle parked in a nearby business. The suspect entered the vehicle and fled from the officers. Royal Oak Officers began pursuing the suspect. The pursuit went through multiple jurisdictions with Beverly Hills, Berkley and Southfield Officers assisting. The pursuit ended on Eleven Mile west of Greenfield when the suspect vehicle struck a Southfield Patrol car. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect is believed to be the same individual involved in similar bank robberies in the area. The Royal Oak Police Department is working cooperatively with the FBI regarding this incident and the prior incidents listed below:

• Berkley Charter One (Woodward & Catalpa), 01/28/13 @ 10:15 am.
• Birmingham Comerica Bank (15 Mile/Southfield), 02/08/13 @ 10:10 am.
• Royal Oak Citizens Bank (Lincoln & Main), Fri 02/22/13 @ 9:54 am.
• Beverly Hills Independence Bank (Southfield & 14 Mile), 3/13/13 @12:21 pm.
