209 E. Twelve Mile (CVS) Armed Robber
On 03/17/13, at approximately 08:49 a.m., Royal Oak Police officers responded to an armed robbery at the CVS drug store, located at 209 E. Twelve Mile Road in the City of Royal Oak.
The cashier was working the front register when a male and a female entered the business. The female distracted the cashier while the male suspect went behind the counter and took several cartons of cigarettes. The cashier realized what was happening and confronted the male suspect. The male suspect told her he was armed with a gun and both suspects exited the store, entered a Gray Ford Taurus and fled the area.
Investigating officers were able to obtain further information from a recent larceny complaint in a neighboring jurisdiction involving the same suspect vehicle. A witness was able to provide the license plate number of the suspect vehicle in the larceny. The vehicle registered to an address in the City of Troy. Based on this information, Troy Police Officers checked the residence and located the suspect and the suspect vehicle.
Royal Oak Police Officers responded to the residence in Troy where the male suspect was arrested for armed robbery. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Troy resident, Anton Djonaj.
On Monday, March18, 2013, Anton Djonaj was arraigned in the 44th District Court. He was charged with (1) count of Armed Robbery and (1) count of Retail Fraud 2nd Degree.
44th District court Judge Terrence Brennan set bond at $50,000.00. The next hearing date is set for March 22, 2013 at 09:00 a.m.
The female suspect was not located. She is described as a black female in her 20’s, 5’4” to 5’6” tall, medium build, approximately 140 lbs, with a dark complexion and black shoulder length hair. During the robbery the female suspect was wearing a black jacket with fur around the hood, a long red shirt, blue jeans and red boots.
