Do you own forest land and want to keep that forest legacy for future generations?
Do you want to discuss your wishes for the future of your land with family, but don't know how to get started?
This day-long workshop, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, offered through a U.S. Forest Service grant to MSU Extension and the Michigan DNR Forest Stewardship Program and based on the Oregon State University's "Ties to the Land" program, is a great starting point for any family wanting to learn how to "hand down" their forest land from one generation to the next. The program focuses on both interpersonal and well as legal issues to be considered and was developed by a nationally prominent estate planning professional and National Tree Farm leader.
Families are encouraged to participate together. Registration fee is $65.00 for the first family member and $15.00 for each additional member. Registration fee includes the 76-page book, "Ties to the Land: Your Family Forest Heritage," all handouts, light breakfast and lunch. Deadline is Friday, October 20, 2012.
This workshop will be held at the Tollgate Farm Center, 28115 Meadowbrook Road, Novi, MI 48377.
