MMWR August 29, 2024: Prevention and Control of Seasonal Influenza with Vaccines
On August 29, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published an MMWR Prevention and Control of Seasonal Influenza with Vaccines: Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices — United States, 2024–25 Influenza Season.
This report updates the influenza vaccine recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) concerning the use of seasonal influenza vaccines in the United States.
Influenza remains a serious threat due to its potential to cause severe morbidity and mortality. Annual influenza vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza illness and associated complications, including death. Clinicians play a critical role in the immunization of all persons aged 6 months and older throughout the influenza season.
2024-2025 MDHHS/MSU Extension Influenza Webinar Registration Open
On September 11, 2024, from 12:00-1:00 PM ET, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Division of Immunization, in collaboration with the Michigan State University – Extension, will be kicking off their 13th Annual Pediatric and Adult Influenza Webinar.
The webinar will communicate important information for immunizing providers on the upcoming 2024-2025 flu season, including influenza vaccine recommendations, influenza surveillance data, and strategies to increase influenza vaccination rates. There is no cost for attending this webinar.

Participants must register individually to partake in the webinar and be eligible for CME/PCE/ACPE credits.
