Hello Immunization Partners,

Please share the following information with providers in your jurisdiction.

We want to remind our partners that seasonal administration of maternal RSV vaccine (Abrysvo) is only recommended through the end of January in most of the continental United States.

In jurisdictions with seasonality that differs from most of the continental United States including Alaska, Florida, Guam, Puerto Rico, U.S. affiliated Pacific Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, providers should follow local, state, and territorial guidance on timing of maternal RSV vaccination.

Infants born to unvaccinated mothers during the continuing RSV season (i.e., February 1 through March 31) should receive nirsevimab through the end of March in most of the continental United States.

If a dose of maternal RSV vaccine (Abrysvo) is inadvertently administered after January 31st it is considered a valid dose and nirsevimab would not be recommended for infants in these situations.

For more information please see Use of the Pfizer Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine During Pregnancy for the Prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus–Associated Lower Respiratory Tract Disease in Infants: Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices — United States, 2023.

Thank you for all you do!
