To all Oakland County employees:
As you may have heard, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has identified Oakland County and several counties in southeast Michigan as areas with high positivity rates of COVID-19, with numbers steadily rising since mid-April. Our County Health Officer is recommending we reinstitute some of our safety practices around COVID.
Please note that while we will not be formally adjusting the policy at this time and will not be adding signage reflecting these new recommendations, we ask that we all work together to immediately implement the following recommendations:
- Reinstate the mask policy indoors in common areas and where social distancing is not possible (Common areas include but not limited to breakrooms, elevators, bathrooms, hallways, seating areas, etc.)
- Hold meetings either in Teams or Zoom; or hold socially distanced in-person meetings in conference rooms when at all possible
- Stay home when sick and get tested:
- To get a PCR test at Oakland County please call Labor Relations at 248-459-3936 or go to Nurse on Call to Schedule an appointment
- Employees and retirees covered under the Navitus pharmacy plan can purchase over-the-counter at-home COVID tests without a doctor’s prescription at little or no cost. The pharmacy plan covers up to eight COVID tests per member every 30 days.
- It is highly recommended that covered employees and retirees get the COVID-19 test kit at the pharmacy to ensure the kits are processed properly and that members have no out-of-pocket costs. But if the kits are purchased, Navitus will reimburse at a rate of up to $12 per individual test.
- Stay up to date on CDC vaccine recommendations: We still have vaccine clinics available, please go to OaklandCountyVaccine.com for up-to-date information on where to get vaccines.
- Follow CDC recommendations on isolation/quarantine: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html
It is important to note that COVID cases will continue to rise and decline based on activity. Please continue to be diligent, whether you are vaccinated or not, remain six feet apart, wear masks, stay home when sick and wash your hands often.
Employees can also get COVID tests at the county health clinics in Pontiac and Southfield, Monday to Friday at 10 a.m. Self-registration can be found at https://www01.oakgov.com/ServicesRegSecure/Services/Registration.aspx. Employees can also contact Nurse on Call at 800-848-5533 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. to get registered for tests.
Employees will receive a telephone call from a clinic nurse with their results in the late afternoon or early morning the next day. Results may be e-mailed to the employee upon request.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Labor Relations at 248-459-3936.
With Thanks,
April Lynch Oakland County Deputy County Executive
