Hi there,
We hit a milestone last week administering the millionth dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Oakland County! We are now well over 1 million doses given to our residents. Today the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard reports 1,077,342 doses have been given to Oakland County residents by all providers including 311,787 doses administered by Oakland County.
Our community’s response to vaccination has been encouraging. We are still working to vaccinate county residents 16+ and are readily available to do so. Please consider getting vaccinated if you haven’t already and encourage your family and friends to do the same. It WILL help us get back to normal.
Today we opened our first walk-in vaccination site for anyone 18 years of age or older who live or work in Oakland County. These locations are first come, first serve. We plan to have walk-in sites on a regular basis. However, if you prefer to book an appointment for your COVID-19 vaccination, we have appointments at indoor and drive-thru sites available.
Our Save Your Spot system also now provides the ability for people to book their own appointment-see more information below.
Check out our weekly COVID-19 Update video providing updates about our vaccination efforts.
In good health,
Leigh-Anne Stafford
Director, Health and Human Services

Governor Whitmer Unveils Plan to Get ‘MI Vacc to Normal’
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last week announced a pathway to return to normal in Michigan by unveiling the ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan as the state continues toward its goal of vaccinating 70% of Michiganders ages 16 years or older. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will base future a relaxation of restrictions on four milestones that, once achieved, will enable Michigan to take a step toward normalcy.
The ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan will use four vaccination-based milestones -- using data for Michiganders 16 years or older who’ve received their first dose -- to guide future epidemic orders:
-
55% of Michiganders (4,453,304 residents), plus two weeks
- Allows in-person work for all sectors of business.
-
60% of Michiganders (4,858,150 residents), plus two weeks
- Increases indoor capacity at sports stadiums; conference centers/ banquet halls/funeral homes to 25%.
- Increases capacity at exercise facilities and gyms to 50%.
- Lifts the curfew on restaurants and bars.
-
65% of Michiganders (5,262,996 residents), plus two weeks
- Lifts all indoor capacity limits, requiring only social distancing between parties.
- Further relaxes limits on residential social gatherings.
-
70% of Michiganders (5,667,842 residents), plus two weeks
- Lifts the Gatherings and Face Masks Order unless unanticipated circumstances arise, such as the spread of vaccine-resistant variants.
FAQ: Can I get the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time as other vaccines?
Wait at least 14 days after your COVID-19 vaccine before getting any other vaccine, including a flu or shingles vaccine. Or if you have recently received any other vaccine first, wait at least 14 days before getting your COVID-19 vaccine.
When we have more data on the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines given at the same time as other vaccines, CDC may update this recommendation.
