Dear Oakland County resident,
I am happy to report we continue to expand the amount of appointments and locations to offer vaccinations. Each week we get a step closer to reaching more of you.
Last weekend we held our first large indoor COVID-19 Vaccination clinic at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. We seamlessly vaccinated more than 2,800 residents in a single day. The process went smoothly, and it proved to me that we can vaccinate even more people rapidly in this type of setting when vaccine supplies are available.
The gratitude we received from Oakland County residents on Saturday was uplifting and appreciated. Please take a few minutes and watch my weekly Vaccine Update video for more details about our current vaccination plan.
The Health Division currently has the capacity to operate five vaccine sites, seven days a week to vaccinate upwards of 20,000 people each week. However, without an adequate vaccine supply from the state and federal government, the county is only able to open one or two sites per day. Through January 17th, the Health Division has administered a total of 13,670 doses.

Vaccine Distribution and Availability in Oakland County
This week we saw an increase in the amount of vaccine doses received from the State of Michigan. COVID-19 vaccine supplies at the local level are still extremely limited but it’s encouraging to see the slight increase. The statewide effort to vaccinate Michiganders is happening at multiple levels, including hospital systems, local health departments and certain pharmacies who are approved vaccine providers.
Each of these providers represent a piece of a giant puzzle aimed at reaching all residents as quickly as possible. The Oakland County Health Division works together with these providers to determine who they are currently vaccinating based on the state’s eligible populations and then fills in any gaps to vaccinate other eligible groups.
- Hospitals and certain pharmacy locations are focused on reaching individuals age 65 and older.
- CVS and Walgreens have received doses to vaccinate nursing home residents.
- Oakland County Health Division is vaccinating healthcare workers; frontline essential workers including police officers, first responders, frontline local, state and federal workers, jail and prison staff; preK-12 teachers and childcare providers; long-term care residents and staff and residents 65 years and older who live and work in Oakland County.
As vaccine supply increases, so will the number of providers so residents will have more options. Most of the following providers are using online medical charts or portals to notify individuals when they can make appointments:

Stay current with Oakland County’s vaccination efforts. View the COVID-19 Vaccination Information Dashboard. This dashboard is updated every Monday by 5 p.m. and displays number of vaccine doses received and administered for the week prior.
More Appointments Opened for Save Your Spot Registrants
This week, just over 3,000 new appointments were offered to individuals from our Save Your Spot database. The Health Division sends appointment invitations directly to those signed up on the “Save Your Spot” list by priority eligibility and time of sign-up.
