Coming in August!  Partnering for Student Support: OSS Launches New Video Series for 2025-26 School Year

A new video series designed to empower every adult in your school community is launching soon and will be available on the OSS website.  Detect & Connect will equip staff with information and resources to recognize when a student is struggling and how to help the student.

From the bus to the cafeteria to the practice field, this series supports adults who interact with students in spotting early signs of distress, responding effectively, and connecting students to the support they need. Short, engaging videos and an easy-to-use facilitator’s guide make this a powerful addition to back-to-school professional development.

Prepare your entire team to play a vital role in student wellness.

Registration Open for 2025 School Safety Academy

Registration is now open for several sessions of the Michigan School Safety Academy. With all new content, school leaders, law enforcement, emergency managers, and mental health professionals are urged to attend this valuable learning opportunity.  For an overview of the academy and registration information, visit the OSS website.  Please note that online registration is required and space is limited.

MSP Safety Day

MSP is hosting its annual Safety Day on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MSP Headquarters, 7150 Harris Drive, Dimondale. This free, outdoor event is open to everyone and features numerous safety-related programs including: An MSP Child and Vulnerable Adult ID Station MSP Angel Program SafeKids Child Safety Seat Inspection Station OK2SAY Bicycle, Vulnerable Pedestrians, and Personal Safety Station And much more!

Reminder to Update OK2SAY Emergency Contacts for the Summer

With school out for the summer, now is a great time to visit the OK2SAY website to update your school or district’s emergency contact information.  All schools, public and private, must register at least one school official’s emergency after-hours contact information biannually.  This information is crucial to ensuring OK2SAY tipline technicians can help students in a timely manner during emergencies.
