The Older Adult Advisory Committee has continued to rotate its meeting locations to local communities. The July meeting was held at the Washington Township Hall and included County Executive Mark Hackel and Department of Roads Director Bryan Santo together providing an update on road projects. The committee also received information on underground infrastructure from the Office of Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller.
The August meeting was held at the Sterling Heights Senior Center and included updates from the County’s Office of Senior Services and Macomb Community Action Department.
Mark your calendars for the next meeting on September 29th at 2 p.m. in Shelby Township. The agenda includes an overview and update from Macomb County Community Mental Health CEO Dave Pankotai and an explanation of the upcoming 2024 County Budget Process. The Macomb County Board of Commissioners approved one of the most comprehensive investments in public safety: the Macomb County Central Intake and Assessment Center. The funding of this project confirms the County’s commitment to addressing the needs of those who come into contact with the criminal justice system, laying the foundation for a diversion program for those with mental health and substance abuse challenges, preventing recidivism.
The Board approved $171,954,697 of initial funding with additional funding to be considered, as needed, in the later years of the project. This initial funding includes $129,758,815 of federal dollars, $40,000,000 from the State of Michigan and $2,195,882 from the County’s General Fund, without the need for additional tax dollars from the residents.
