We are seeing some encouraging signs that the surge of COVID-19 cases that we have been experiencing since mid-November is slowing down – confirmed cases, test positivity, and hospitalizations are declining. These are all good signs. Hopefully, together we can all continue to do our best to do our part to help put the pandemic behind us.
With that in mind, this issue of the COVID-19 Newsletter features information on how you can get a number of free resources including vaccinations and boosters, at-home testing kits, and facemasks to help stop community spread. We have also included information on Macomb County’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as what to do if you contracted COVID-19 before you received your booster.

As part of Mask Up, Michigan!, Macomb Community Action is proud to offer free KN95 masks to Macomb County residents that need them. Masks are available for pick-up at Macomb Community Action’s food pantries and Community Action Centers. No need to call ahead, just stop in during hours of operation. Masks are available on a first come, first served basis.
To say that 2021 was a challenging year would be an understatement. Here in Macomb County, we took an all-hands on deck approach in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and did our very best to help deliver a comprehensive range of resources and services to help our residents, businesses, and visitors navigate the pandemic as well as everyday life. The Macomb County Health Department is currently taking appointments for individuals age 12 and up who are eligible for booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Individuals who need help making an appointment can call the Macomb County Helpline at 586-463-3750. Although not encouraged, walk-up appointments are also welcome.
 ANSWER: Definitely. Whether you received two doses of either of the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna), or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, as soon as you are: symptom-free; are no longer in isolation; do not need medication(s) to suppress a fever, and; are eligible for a booster, you should schedule your booster dose.
