Our hard work is paying off. We’ve flattened the curve of the coronavirus and we are now in a position where it is safe to re-engage parts of our economy. Yesterday, we saw retailers begin to reopen and next week, our restaurants, bars, libraries and museums can as well. Of course, there are limits on capacity and we are being asked to take preventative measures, like wearing masks and social distancing, but this is progress nonetheless.
As we reemerge from our homes, I want you to remember to be safe, but also, to be kind to one another. COVID-19 has taken an emotional toll on all of us and these are still tense times. So let’s be patient with each other and be respectful. We got to this point by working together. We can continue to move forward by doing the same.
Thank you, and as always, take care.
Mark A. Hackel
Macomb County Executive
