LICENSE YOUR EVENT

Getting a raffle license is as easy as 1-2-3! Go to the Michigan Lottery, Charitable Gaming Division website at www.michigan.gov/cg and select Raffle or click on the links below.

  1. Print a Raffle License Application. The application can be completed online and then printed off or a blank application can be printed and then completed by hand.
  2. The principal officer of the organization that is applying must sign the application. The superintendent must sign for a district, the principal must sign for an individual school, and the highest elected official according to their bylaws (generally the president) must sign for a PTA, PTO, or booster club.
  3. Mail the following:

  * License application

  * License fee

  * Any qualification documents (see below)

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Public schools and public school districts who comply with the Michigan Revised School Code Act generally do not need to submit qualification documentation.  Simply mail in a completed application and payment.

If your organization is not a public school or public school district and has not previously qualified with Charitable Gaming, we will need a few documents to get you started. Once the organization has qualified, the qualification process will not have to be repeated when applying for future raffle licenses unless changes have occurred.

To find the appropriate documentation needed, go to our website at www.michigan.gov/cg and select Qualification Requirements. From the list, select your organization’s purpose to determine the documentation required by law (or select a link below).

Private School/Academy (Educational)       PTO (Local Civic)

PTA (Service)         Booster Club (Local Civic)

Complete the first page of the Qualification Information form and submit it to the bureau along with the documents indicated on the second page.

Raffle accountability rules require the licensee has a financial account in their name for the deposit of all raffle proceeds. When the school does not have its own financial account, oftentimes the school district or supporting non-profit organization (PTA, PTO, or booster club) will apply for the license.
