Annual Reports: Supplemental Documents for Family History Research

Governments, businesses, and a variety of other organizations produce annual reports that describe the activities of the entities throughout the preceding year. These reports provide vital information for genealogical researchers when investigating the greater context of the lives of their ancestors. Learn more about these useful documents and see examples from the collections of the Library of Michigan.

The 2025 schedule of Virtual Programs is being finalized and will be announced in December.

Library of Michigan Closing Announcement

The Library of Michigan will be closed for the following days for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

  • Tuesday - Wednesday, December 24-25, 2024
  • Tuesday - Wednesday, December 31, 2024– January 1, 2025

All reference questions and library card applications will be processed during the week after reopening.


Michigan Yearbook Collection Project

Thank you to everyone who has reached out so far to contribute to the Library of Michigan's Yearbook Collection project. Libraries, historical organizations, and individuals from all over the state have contacted the Library of Michigan will donations. An additional thank you goes to the news organizations that have spotlighted the initiative. News outlets that have showcased the project so far include:

Library of Michigan staff are currently processing the dozens of email messages and phone calls with yearbook contributions received so far. There may be a short delay due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but Library staff will respond to them as soon as possible. Find more information about the project at Michigan.gov/LibraryGift. 2025 History Detectives Grand Rapids

The Library of Michigan is again joining several Grand Rapids area local history organizations in presenting History Detectives Grand Rapids on January 18, 2025 at the Grand Rapids Public Library. Hear 6 programs highlighting historical topics including:
