Celebrating Law Librarian Janice Selberg

On May 31, Library of Michigan staff honored Law Librarian, colleague, and friend Janice Selberg. Janice has spent the last 12 years working for as the Law and Federal Documents Librarian of the State Law Library and countless more dedicated to the law library/academic field. We will miss her expansive knowledge and sense of humor but wish her the best in this next chapter in retirement.

Eaton County Genealogical Society Event

On Saturday May 18 the Library of Michigan and Archives of Michigan welcomed the Eaton County Genealogical Society for a daylong event at the Michigan Library and Historical Center. The event included tours at both the Library and Archives as well as a presentation by Reference Librarian Matt Pacer on "Military Resources at the Library of Michigan."

A special segment of the event's schedule was honoring long-time researcher and Eaton County Genealogical Society member Shirley Gage Hodges. Shirley has been active in genealogical research for decades and a frequent visitor to both the Library of Michigan and Archives of Michigan. State Librarian Randy Riley and Senior Archivist Kris Rzepczynski spoke during the society's recognition of Shirley.
