The Library of Michigan will be closed from Thursday, November 23 through Sunday, November 26 and all staff will be out of the office.
Reference services and library card processing will resume on Monday, November 27. Please allow at least three weeks for staff to process the backlog of card applications and reference questions.

2024 History Detectives Grand Rapids
History Detectives Grand Rapids announces the return of its popular day-long local history programming event and aims to bring together those interested in the evolution and history of local topics and persons. This 15th annual offering of all local history programming will deliver a diverse array of topics by local researchers and academics including the following (in order of presentation):

All presentations are held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Ryerson Auditorium of the Main Branch of the Grand Rapids Public Library, 111 Library Street, NE, in downtown Grand Rapids. Each presentation runs approximately 45 minutes with the first presentation beginning at 9:30AM. A lunch break will begin at 12:15PM, and those wishing to reserve a boxed lunch from Schnitz Deli can make a selection and payment at the History Detectives Grand Rapids website. The programming day will conclude at 4:00PM and attendees can enjoy free parking for any or all of the programs they wish to attend.
