Michigan’s BEAD Final Proposal has been submitted to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for their review and approval. The Michigan High Speed Internet Office (MIHI) is waiting for final approval of the NTIA curing process. The most current resubmitted data, as well as the text of the Final Proposal and a summary of the results from the Benefit of the Bargain Round, are available on the BEAD Final Proposal page. MIHI appreciates your patience as we wait for approval and next steps from NTIA.
The NTIA announced recently that it plans to overhaul Tribal broadband programs to reduce bureaucratic barriers, increase flexibility and better align funding opportunities to meet the connectivity needs of Tribal nations. NTIA expects to release a notice of funding opportunity in the spring of 2026, making at least $500 million available in Tribal broadband funding.

Online shopping is a convenient way to find gifts and good deals during the holiday season. It also brings risks if you are not careful. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) recommends a few simple steps to avoid scams and protect your information while shopping online:
-
Buy from trusted businesses: Some fake sites look like real stores. Check that a business lists contact information and when in doubt, search for it on the BBB website before you order.
-
Check that the website is secure: A safe site will show a lock symbol and begin with HTTPS. Only enter payment information on secure pages.
-
Protect your personal information: The privacy policy on the website should clearly explain what information is collected and how it will be used. If a site does not share a privacy policy, do not shop there.
-
Be cautious with ads and links: Scammers send emails and social posts that look real. Do not click links you were not expecting.
-
Watch for prices that seem too good to be true: Extremely low prices can be a warning sign of a scam.
-
Use a credit card: Credit cards offer stronger protection than a debit card if there is a problem with your order.
-
Save your receipts: Keep your confirmation email and tracking information until the item arrives.
-
Keep your device protected: Make sure your computer, phone or tablet have up to date security software. Run regular scans and install updates to help block malware and other threats.
