The Michigan High Speed Internet Office (MIHI) continues to review, score and deconflict the 392 applications that were received in the first grant round of the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program. These applications cover over 193,000 BEAD-eligible locations for the expansion of high-speed fiber optic internet service to areas all around the state. MIHI will contact successful applicants as soon as possible.
MIHI would again like to express appreciation to all organizations that have submitted applications to extend broadband coverage to every home, business and community anchor institution across Michigan.
MIHI has published the draft grant agreement for the BEAD program and welcomes public feedback until May 22, 2025. MIHI will only review feedback submitted via the MIHI BEAD Subgrant Agreement Feedback webform.
Phishing is a common scam where someone tries to steal your personal information through fake emails or text messages. These messages often look like they come from a trusted company such as your bank, a delivery service or a payment app.
The Federal Trade Commission offers the following advice to help you spot a phishing scam:
- A message about suspicious activity on your account.
-
A claim that there’s a problem with your payment or account.
- A request to confirm personal or financial information.
- An invoice or payment request you weren’t expecting.
- A message offering a refund or something free.
-
A generic greeting like “Dear Customer.”
-
Urgent language asking you to act quickly or click a link.
If you receive a message like this do not click any links or open attachments. If you have an account with the company and are unsure if the message is real, contact the company directly using a verified phone number or website. For more information and to report phishing scams, visit the FTC website.
