All proposals for Round one of the blight elimination grant program have been reviewed and grants have been awarded. A total of 198 properties will be awarded $7,933,444 in grant funds. Of those properties, 159 will be demolished, 37 will be stabilized and two grants provide gap funding for an environmental remediation project.
Round one has provided funding to a total of 46 different counties statewide. Of those, 33 were county land bank grantees, 25 were rural county grantees and 21 grantees were from non-rural counties.

The SLBA is a proud sponsor of the 2023 Building Michigan Communities Conference held in Lansing on May 9 and 10. Land bank partners will find two sessions directly related to land banking and many other offerings showcasing the variety of resources available to land banks.
Conference organizers have also announced a scholarship program available to assist individuals and small organizations with attending the conference if they have less than $125,000 in their administrative budget.
