As just announced by the Office of the State Employer, there are changes to the daily attestation questions. The changes are primarily to the required quarantine periods for employees who either test positive for COVID, develop symptoms or who have come into close contact with someone who is COVID positive. Employees are required to follow the protocols and mask and quarantine according to the new guidelines.
For Employees who have tested positive:
- If you test positive, and have no symptoms, you must isolate for five full days from the date your test was taken (day 0). You may return to in person work after five full days have passed. Upon returning to in person work, you must wear a well-fitting mask when around others through day 10.
- If you test positive and have symptoms, you must isolate for five full days from the date your symptoms started (day 0). You may return to in person work after five full days have passed, assuming you have been fever-free for 24 hours without using medications and your symptoms are improving. Upon returning to in person work, you must wear a well-fitting mask when around others through day 10.
For Employees who have a new onset of symptoms:
- You must isolate until (1) you receive a negative COVID-19 test, (2) you have received an alternative diagnosis for the new symptoms, or (3) at least five full days pass since the onset of symptoms, you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and any other symptoms are improving. When returning after a new onset of symptoms, you must wear a well-fitting mask around others through day 10.
For Employees who have been a close contact with someone who is COVID positive:
- Day 0 is the last day of exposure.
- If you are up to date with vaccinations or have been COVID positive in the past 90 days and have no symptoms, you do not need to quarantine. You must wear a well-fitting mask when around others through day 10.
- If you are up to date with vaccinations but develop symptoms, you must isolate until (1) you receive a negative COVID-19 test, (2) you have received an alternative diagnosis for the new symptoms, or (3) at least five full days pass since the onset of symptoms, you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and any other symptoms are improving. When returning after a new onset of symptoms, you must wear a well-fitting mask around others through day 10.
- If you are not up to date with vaccinations and have not been COVID positive in the past 90 days, you must quarantine for five (5) full days from date of contact. Upon returning to in person work, you must wear a well-fitting mask when around others through day 10.
DTMB Notification and enhanced cleaning protocols will still take place when an employee tests positive and was last in a work site and other staff will be there within 72 hours. Notification will be sent to everyone in the work site and if the person was in the space less than 24 hours after notification to LEO OHR, the work area will be cleared, fogged and the impacted office area(s), high touch points, and common areas will be wiped down. If the person was in the space between 25 and 72 hours after notification to LEO OHR, the impacted office area(s), high touch points and common areas will be wiped down. Beyond 72 hours, normal cleaning protocols will apply.
Contact tracing comes directly from LEO OHR to those employees who have been identified as a close contact.
Employees who have tested positive for COVID: All employees are required to report to LEO OHR if they have tested positive for COVID. You can access and fill out the LEO OHR COVID Positive Questionnaire under COVID Resources on the LEO OHR Intranet page. Information will be reviewed and someone from LEO OHR will follow up with you directly to discuss quarantine requirements and contact tracing, if necessary. If you test positive and were in the workplace in the last 72 hours, please also directly email Keri Lardie at lardiek@michigan.gov and leo-ohr@michigan.gov. Those notifications will be a priority for response.
Employees who develop symptoms that could be COVID related: Review the guide and follow the instructions. LEO OHR does not have to be contacted unless you have specific questions.
Employees who have been in close contact with a COVID positive individual: Review the guide and follow the instructions. LEO OHR does not have to be contacted unless you have specific questions.
Information regarding being up to date on COVID vaccines and boosters can be found on the CDC website.
