Participants will receive individualized competency-based assessments and learning plans that may include skills assessments, remote learning opportunities, high school completion, contextual learning opportunities and industry-recognized credential attainment.

Career and Technical Education Month
February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month! CTE programs provide hands-on training that can be applied to real-world, in demand education, training and career pathways.
CTE programs are offered at high schools, colleges and some universities throughout Michigan and help prepare you for high-wage, in-demand careers. Explore career options, training, wages and projected openings at Pathfinder.MiTalent.org.

The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) is a federal program that assists workers who have lost or may lose their jobs as a result of foreign trade. TAA provides adversely-affected workers with opportunities to obtain the skills, credentials, resources and support necessary to become reemployed.
This includes job training, career counseling, wage supplements for older workers, job search and relocation allowances, and income support for workers in an approved training program.

If you're experiencing housing insecurity due to the pandemic, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) has a Housing Education Program that may be able to help you.
The program partners with 35 Housing Counseling Agencies throughout the state to deliver counseling and educational classes in homebuyer education, pre-purchase individual counseling, foreclosure individual counseling, financial capabilities group education, rental housing education and counseling, disaster relief housing counseling, and homeless individual counseling.

There are approximately 1,300 seasonal park worker positions available. These frontline staffers register campers, clean buildings, mow grass and more. In addition, more than 50 seasonal park rangers will be hired throughout the state. Park rangers helps carry out day-to-day operations and maintenance and other essential duties.

Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) is starting the next Apprenticeship Readiness Program on March 12. The nationally-recognized 15-week program is offered at no cost for participants and includes coursework in Construction Math, Blueprint Reading, Scales and Dimensioning, and Construction Industry Awareness.
Participants will be exposed to several different trades through hands-on activities and will receive certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, Aerial Lift and OSHA 30. Classes will be held in Lansing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Apply today!
WIST is a Lansing-based nonprofit organization that provides training, resources and support to women interested in learning about and accessing career opportunities in the construction skilled trades. For more information, go to WistMichigan.org.
After facing significant challenges throughout her life, Shelby Essenmacher always thought obtaining a college education and a fulfilling career with a good paycheck were out of reach - until the native Detroiter learned about the Michigan Reconnect scholarship program.
"I can now seriously go after my dream of becoming a nurse without worrying about the cost of tuition, which has always been a major obstacle preventing me from going back to school," Shelby said. " Reconnect has cleared a pathway for me to achieve my education and career goals."
Shelby is among 91,000 Michiganders accepted into Michigan Reconnect since its launch in February 2021 and one of 12,000 scholarship participants currently working towards a degree or skills certificate through the program. Read Shelby's story here.
