August is Back to School Month!
If you started an educational program and didn’t finish, or never received your GED, there are low-cost education options available to you. Adult Education programs can help you finish or complete your education through their 120 programs.
Why get your high school equivalency now? Today's jobs and most training program require a high school diploma or equivalent. And individuals with a high school diploma earn on average $6,000 more per year than those without one.

If you are unemployed or underemployed, making ends meet can be a challenge. Fortunately, there are many programs available to help you.
If you need help paying your rent or utilities, assistance is available through the MDHHS COVID Emergency Rental Assistance program for qualified individuals.
The program serves renters who have experienced a reduction in income or have qualified for unemployment benefits either directly or indirectly because of COVID.
Individuals who qualify should apply despite the CDC eviction moratorium extension, since it only applies to areas the CDC determines is experiencing "substantial" or "high" COVID-19 transmission.

Job seekers between ages 18 and 59 who receives food assistance benefits may qualify for the Food Assistance Employment and Training (FAE&T) program.
FAE&T offers a variety of personalized services to help participants find and keep a good job, including case management, employment and training activities, and help with supportive services.
FAE&T is currently available in 27 Michigan counties via the Michigan Works! one-stop service centers. Contact your local Michigan Works! service center to see if you qualify.

Michiganders can now get help with expunging eligible convictions from their criminal record to aid them in their pursuit of full-time employment thanks to the new Clean Slate Pilot program.
