MCTI student breaks barriers in Graphic Communications
Zifeng Liao (Tony), a Michigan Career and Technical Training Center (MCTI) student from China has limited understanding of the English language which posed as a challenge for him when seeking employment. Tony was eligible to use the state’s Michigan Rehabilitation Services who referred him to MCTI where he began the Graphic Communications training program.
During his time at MCTI, Tony did his externship at Mid-Lakes Screen Printing, where he learned real-world experience in graphic communications. “His knowledge of manual screen printing and attention to detail is a huge advantage to our entire office. He put this skill set to work in order to achieve our daily production schedule,” said Katie Dolfman, Mid-Lakes Screen Printing. He is a true team player and always managed to foster a positive attitude and bring the best out of my entire company. Tony is the ideal employee. Always on time, actually five minutes early every day, never any trouble or complaints”.
After graduating in June of 2018 from the Graphic Communications program, Tony was hired at Multi Packaging Solutions in Holland, MI in September 2018, where he’s still employed today.
