Michigan Achievement Scholarship Certification Reminder
The Michigan Achievement Scholarship (including the Community College Guarantee) certification deadline for the 2nd quarter is approaching quickly.
To be included in the 2nd quarter payments, awards must be certified by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Second quarter payments will be processed beginning Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Do not delay! It is critical that institutions certify students early to allow institutions time to make corrections as needed.
High School Completion and Mid-year/Off-cycle Awards Reminder
Students must complete their high school requirements before the semester/term start date at their institution to be considered for State financial aid. Institutions are responsible for verifying the student met their high school completion requirements prior to the semester/term start date they begin awarding State financial aid. Institutions will need to contact the MI Student Aid program coordinator to initiate a system override for students in this scenario.
15-Month Reminder
- Students who graduated April – August of 2023 must have initiated by Fall of 2024 to continue eligibility for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship. Initiation is defined as a payment of $0.01 or greater or the certification of “No - Full-Time - exceeds COA.”
- If a student is in Ready to Pay status for Fall 2024, institutions will be able to certify their Spring after it moves to Paid status.
- For example, a student who is Paid for Fall 2024 in Q2 will be able to have Spring 2025 awards certified beginning February 27th 2025 and payments will be issued during Q3.
- If a student did not meet the requirements for Fall 2024 and are certified as “No,” they will no longer be able to be certified for future semesters. The student will be greyed out in the manual certification area and not included on the institution's certification roster for Spring onward.
Chronological Certification Order
- Students must be certified in chronological order in MiSSG. Thank you to institutions who have been diligent in completing Fall certification!
- Transfer students who remain in a Ready to Certify status for Fall at their sending institution will be unable to be certified at their current institution for Spring.
