December is here and before everyone leaves to take a much-needed break, MI Student Aid wanted to share some quick updates and helpful resources. Check out the Newsletter below for more information!
 FAFSA Data in MiSSG!
MI Student Aid has started loading 2025-26 FAFSA completion data into the MiSSG system. High School Users should start seeing 2025-26 FAFSA student data as the MiSSG system continues to load FAFSA transactions processed by Federal Student Aid.
To view FAFSA completion data in the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal, click on High School in the main menu and then click on FAFSA Completion Data. Don't forget to take a look at the various columns of information for each student's FAFSA record. Especially the FAFSA status columns labeled FAFSA Submitted and FAFSA Complete.
Don't Have Access to the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal?
Submit a MiSSG 2024-25 Data Use Agreement (DUA). Having a DUA on file allows high school users to view valuable student level data including:
- FAFSA Completion Data
- Michigan Achievement Scholarship Qualifying Student Data
- Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) Qualifying Student Data
As a reminder, all Data Use Agreements must be:
- Completed electronically and annually (please type because handwritten information will cause processing delays)
- Submitted via email to MiStudentAid@Michigan.gov by authorizing principal/superintendent
NOTE: The Data Use Agreement can be submitted throughout the academic year. To access the 2024-25 DUA, visit the High School Counselor MiSSG Portal.
Want to Check if Your School Has a DUA on File?
To check your high school's current DUA status, go to the MI FAFSA Data Web site. Here you can view DUA status and aggregate level data for students at your school.
The 2025-26 FAFSA form is now available and to help your students and families prepare, check out the FAFSA resources page on our website. Here you will find helpful videos, FAFSA tips and more!
And for additional financial aid resources check out the Paying for College in Michigan website. Please share this information with all students at your school!

Each year in November, MI Student Aid receives a data file from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) containing the names of new students eligible for the Tuition Incentive Program (TIP). The TIP Data file has been received and over 143,000 new student records were uploaded! High School Counselors are encouraged to log into the MiSSG High School Counselors Portal and view their TIP student lists! And don't forget to utilize the TIP Qualifying Student Letter available in the MiSSG High School Counselor Portal. Go to Print TIP Qualifiers (9th-12th grade).
