PROVIDER UPDATE UNDER COVID-19

Licensing and Regulatory Affairs logo

Renewal inspections and other field work is being completed currently by the child care licensing consultants.

What does this mean for You?

1. Your consultant will be in contact with you regarding your inspection. Please use this time to ask questions regarding the inspection itself, required paperwork, or rule compliance.

2. For a smooth and quicker inspection, it is recommended that you send your required paperwork to your consultant electronically prior to your inspection. If you are not able to send all your required paperwork to your consultant electronically, please have your paperwork organized and ready to be shared with your consultant during the inspection. We suggest a simple manila folder so you can hand it off to them when they arrive to simplify the process. This would allow the consultant to sit apart from you and others to limit contact. If possible, have copies of all the materials so that the consultant can keep them for reviewing later in the office. For a list of required records your consultant will review our child care checklist found HERE for homes and found HERE for centers.

3. Please make sure all people associated with your license (child care staff members/adult household members/unsupervised volunteers) are updated and connected properly in the Child Care Background Check system (CCBC). If you have questions or need help with CCBC, you can request assistance (fastest) by completing a request HERE or contact the CCBC division by calling 1-844-765-2247. Please understand it may take 24 to 48 hours for a return phone call.

4. Our goal is to complete your renewal or annual inspection within the guidelines outlined by the federal and state government while keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible. When your consultant arrives unannounced, give your consultant space (6 feet) as he/she is at your home or center, be prepared, and consider wearing a mask with the consultant to protect each other.

5. If you have questions regarding an upcoming inspection and do not know how to contact your consultant, click HERE for a directory of consultants, contact information and general office information.

6. If you have questions regarding operating during COVID-19, HERE is a document with the department’s Guidelines for Safe Child Care Operations during COVID-19. HERE is a basic checklist that should be helpful as well, as you consider operating during COVID-19.
