RE: Coronavirus Update #91 – GLWA Partners with City of Detroit to Make COVID-19 Vaccine Available to Team Members
GLWA is fortunate to be able to partner with the city of Detroit to make the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine available to our team members. The opportunity for vaccination will be available in phases, with the first phase being open to our team members who currently report to work at one of our facilities. The second (later) phase will be available for GLWA team members currently working from home under flexible work arrangements. We are grateful to the city of Detroit for this opportunity.
Within the next week, team members eligible for vaccination under phase one will receive an email communication from the city of Detroit containing a link to indicate their interest in receiving the vaccine. Team members who have indicated they wish to receive a vaccination will then receive a phone call to schedule a date and time for their vaccination at the TCF Center Garage in Detroit. The first available appointments will likely be available after January 25, 2021.
Please note when scheduling, that the TCF Center Vaccination Site will have extended hours as the city works to inoculate people in a timely and efficient manner. We would encourage those team members interested in receiving the vaccination to utilize these off-work hours to ensure proper coverage is maintained in our facilities and to avoid use of PTO time. If for some reason you are unable to schedule your vaccination during off-work hours, it will be important to inform your leadership team member of your absence in advance.
For those considering vaccination, attached are fact sheets on the two available vaccines: Moderna and Pfizer. The city has indicated that in order to maximize efficiency of distribution, participants in its vaccination program will not have the opportunity to choose a particular vaccine but will be given Pfizer or Moderna as available.
Even after receiving the vaccine, GLWA will continue to require that team members and vendors adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing a mask, washing your hands regularly (or using hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands), and practicing social distancing. We will also continue our periodic COVID-19 testing for GLWA on-site team members and will update you on our next round of testing in the near future.
If you have questions regarding the COVID-19 testing, please contact: Jane Wilson at (313) 400-6852 or jane.wilson@glwater.org or Jordie Kramer at (313) 999-0507 or jordie.kramer@glwater.org.
