Due to delays in processing vaccination data over the weekend, the MI COVID-19 Vaccine dashboard will not be updated today, 5/17/21.  We anticipate updating this dashboard on 5/18/21.

As of 5/13/2021, the Michigan COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard includes the population 12 years and older. This increases the population denominator by 497,961 people (from 8,096,917 to 8,594,878) and explains the decrease in initiation coverage (52.7% among Michiganders 16 and older and 49.7% among Michiganders 12 and older).

  • The MI Vacc to Normal plan will use four vaccination-based milestones that, once achieved, will enable Michigan to take a step toward normalcy. To date, 56.3% of Michiganders age 16 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Progress is based on the CDC data tracker, which includes MI residents vaccinated by providers not currently reporting to the state’s MCIR system including: Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, Bureau of Prisons, and most out-of-state providers.

The state of Michigan has achieved the first milestone of the ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan, enabling in-        person work to resume across all employment sectors on May 24.

  • On Monday, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist traveled to the Beaumont Health vaccination site in Southfield to observe the health system’s ongoing efficient and equitable COVID-19 vaccination efforts. He was joined by Beaumont Health Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Carolyn Wilson.

"Our administration has been working around the clock to expand our vaccine program in an efficient and equitable manner so that every Michigander has access to safe and effective vaccines,” said Lt. Governor Gilchrist. “Vaccination efforts like the ones at Beaumont Health are crucial to beating COVID-19, and clinics across the state are making it easier to get a vaccine by offering walk-in hours, call-in lines and same-day appointments. The best thing all of us can do to protect ourselves, our families, and neighbors is to get vaccinated, so we can grow the economy, create jobs, and do the things we love together.”

  • MDHHS announced announced  2,230 cases of COVID-19 from Sunday and Monday. This brings the total number of positive cases of COVID-19 to 876,854.

HAPPENING ACROSS STATE GOVERNMENT

  • The number of Michigan families eligible for additional food assistance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic will be increasing in May with everyone who is eligible now receiving an increased amount, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced.

"Michigan has made great progress towards getting 'Vacc to Normal' thanks to the safe, effective vaccines and efforts by millions of Michiganders who have gone above and beyond through the pandemic," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "However, many families are still facing food insecurity due to the health and economic challenges of the last 14 months. No one should go hungry in Michigan, especially in the midst of a pandemic, and I am proud of this step we are taking to continue helping families put food on the table."

  • As a thank you to the emergency medical service personnel on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed May 16-22 as Michigan EMS Recognition Week.

As an emergency medicine physician I know how important our EMS heroes are in the community and the critical role they plan when Michiganders are in need," said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. "Michigan EMS professionals have gone above and beyond the call of duty during this pandemic and deserve our recognition for their tireless dedication."

"Michigan EMS is proud to be serving on the front lines of the pandemic, providing lifesaving health care and public safety services to Michigan residents," said Jack Fisher, president of the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services and executive director of Medic 1 Ambulance in Berrien County. "We stand ready to help Michiganders in need of medical assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and appreciate the recognition during EMS Week."
