“I am grateful to the brave men and women of the Michigan National Guard for their service earlier this year protecting our nation’s Capitol Building," said Governor Whitmer. "The Michigan National Guard has risen to the occasion over the past year as we responded to COVID-19, natural disasters, and civil unrest. It is unacceptable that our service members faced hardships of inadequate meals while serving our nation. I am delighted to sign this bipartisan bill to recognize Michigan National Guard members for their service."
“Michigan put the world on wheels and will continue driving the world forward by leading on mobility and electrification,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “These grants demonstrate our commitment to expanding EV infrastructure across Michigan and build on the extraordinary work and investments of our innovative industry partners and EGLE to help support drivers who make the transition to electric vehicles.”
“Our administration has been working around the clock to expand our vaccine program in an efficient and equitable manner so that every Michigander has access to the safe and effective vaccines,” said Lt. Governor Gilchrist. “Neighborhood-based vaccination efforts like the ones at the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy are crucial to beating COVID-19. This virus has disproportionately impacted Detroit, so it is crucial that we all do our part to get vaccinated to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The sooner we all get vaccinated, the sooner we can get back to doing the things we love together.”
“Michigan is home to thousands of small businesses that are the backbone of our communities,” said Whitmer. “Small businesses support the economy, add vibrancy to our communities, and provide hundreds of thousands of jobs across Michigan. They have been so resilient through the pandemic and I am committed to getting them the support they need as we build our economy back better.” “Small businesses, and the people with the ideas and tenacity to start them, are the lifeblood of communities here in Michigan,” said Lt. Governor Gilchrist. “I’m incredibly thankful and inspired by the contributions of small businesses to Michigan’s culture and economic recovery. During these unprecedented times, as we continue to protect public health, small business owners and employees continue to show resolve and ingenuity. Governor Whitmer and I are committed to supporting small businesses to help them launch and stay afloat to help rebuild our economy.”
HAPPENING ACROSS STATE GOVERNMENT
New Paradigm will offer a residency-based alternative route to teacher certification program to recruit, train, and retain high quality educators, particularly teachers of color and male teachers of color, for careers in teaching in Michigan schools.
"We continue to work beyond conventional methods to help address the gaps in the teacher workforce," said State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice. "There is a substantial teacher shortage in Michigan, which is even more acute for teachers of color."
