The vaccination clinics are a partnership between the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) and the Michigan National Guard, which both fall under the state DMVA. “Providing our veterans the high-quality care and benefits they’ve earned is essential,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “I am grateful for the DMVA, MVAA and Michigan National Guard’s tireless efforts to open vaccination clinics statewide so we can ensure that Michigan’s veterans and their spouses and caregivers can get vaccinated as soon as possible. The safe, effective vaccines have been shown to be highly effective at preventing COVID-19, and they will help the country get back to normal and allow us to continue growing our economy.”
HAPPENING ACROSS STATE GOVERNMENT
"I commend Marathon Petroleum for demonstrating that a company culture that promotes management commitment, employee involvement, and a desire to excel in safety and health not only reduces injuries and illnesses in the workplace but can also be a positive experience in promoting safety and health for all," MIOSHA Director Bart Pickelman said.
Hometown Health Hero awards are presented every spring as part of Michigan Public Health Week. By building connections, our communities become healthier, safer, and better for all.
"Everyone deserves to live a long and healthy life in a safe environment," said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health for MDHHS. "Hometown Health Hero awards are an opportunity to honor those tackling important public health threats and promoting the health of their communities."
Individuals with claims of any type should continue to certify as usual. Most claimants will not experience a gap in benefits as long as they remain eligible and continue to certify. "Continuation of these federal benefit programs will provide some financial breathing room to Michigan workers as we continue to fight the effects of COVID-19," said Liza Estlund Olson, acting director of the Unemployment Insurance Agency. "Because this legislation extends the current federal programs, we expect to be able to implement the changes without a delay in payments."
