In Michigan, we’re open for business.

Jeff Mason MEDC

I’m Jeff Mason, CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and I’m asking you to take a few moments to consider why Michigan is right for your business.

Let me tell you about a new incentive package that could lead to unprecedented future opportunities.

We listened to the needs of economic developers across our state and created a truly innovative package of incentives tailored to those projects that create over 250 new jobs. The incentives allow a business to capture Michigan income taxes withheld from certified new jobs created. Projects must be completed within five years, and the withholding tax capture revenues will be paid annually when the minimum number of new jobs has been created.

In order to be eligible the new jobs have to pay either at least 100% or 125% of the regional average wage depending on the number of new jobs (250, 500 or 3000). We refer to these incentives as the Good Jobs for Michigan initiative. Indeed, these are good jobs for Michigan, but these are also incentives that make good business sense.

Michigan’s expansive economic growth over the last five years is a testament to our appealing climate of low taxes, sensible regulation and a thriving economy distinguished by a thriving global automotive industry, world-class talent and a distinctive eye to being a part of the emerging trends shaping the global economy.

Michigan put the world on wheels and we’d like to think today, drawing on our legacy of innovation, we’re driving the path into the future.

Let’s start the conversation.

Hopefully, you've had a chance to talk with Nicole Whitehead, the MEDC's Director of Sales & Service Operations, about the many opportunities in Michigan. To begin or continue the conversation, please contact Nicole at whiteheadn@michigan.org or 517-719-3157. She’ll provide you with compelling information on how the Good Jobs for Michigan initiative can be a vital part of coming to Michigan or expanding your business.

Best,

Jeff Mason
