Employers can now search for candidates based on keywords in their resume!

On 10/5/2016 Pure Michigan Talent Connect was optimized to search job seeker resumes for keywords and phrases in Candidate Search. Candidate Search was previously limited to searching information in the job seeker profile career information fields.

The change resulted in significant increases in candidate search results and allows employers to find additional candidate information including employment history and other pertinent information not included in candidate profiles.

Employers can now become certified Veteran Friendly Employers with the MVAA in PMTC!

A new MVAA Certified flag has been added to the Edit Employer screen which is updated by WDA Admin staff. All job postings for certified employers will be identified with the American flag icon. Learn more about becoming MVAA certified.

Other key updates include:

  • Updated Logo
  • Job Posting Feedback - Add Organization Name

MAT2 Career Days Planned for October 21 and October 28 for Employers Looking for Mechatronics Talent

Would you like to talk with high school juniors and seniors who are studying mechatronics? If you are looking for students to learn your company’s electrical, mechanical, and electronics systems to identify, analyze, and solve problems with your manufacturing equipment – while they earn their associates degree -- then sign up today for MAT2 Career Days

Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT2) program employers who are looking for mechatronics technicians for fall 2017 have the chance to interview juniors and seniors at two technical high schools in southeast Michigan. All of the students are currently studying mechatronics and are interesting in learning more about career opportunities.

Companies will have the chance to share information about their company’s products and services. Students will bring their resumes and will be prepared to talk about their skills and interests.

MAT2 Career Days will be held on Friday, October 21 and Friday, October 28. The MAT2 program is an innovative and industry-defined approach to technical education. MAT2 employers pay a student’s tuition, a school stipend, and wages during the student’s work period.  MAT2 students commit to their employer for a total of five years --three years while they attend school and for two years after they receive their associates degree.

For MAT2 Career Day details and to register for one or both of the Career Days, contact Valerie Jemerson at Jemersonv1@michigan.gov. For more information on the MAT2 program, visit http://www.mitalent.org/mat2-employer-information.

MAT2 Employer Training Grants – $5,000 Grants Available for Fall 2017 MAT2 Students

Today’s highly technical manufacturing jobs require employers to invest in education and on-the-job training. To help reduce training costs, the Talent Investment Agency has $5,000 grants available for employers who hire MAT2 students for Fall 2017 and who register their apprentices with the United States Department of Labor.

To begin the process to apply for the grant, employers must first complete the MAT2 Employer Reservation Form and submit it to the Talent Investment Agency. The form and submission instructions can be found at http://www.mitalent.org/mat2-employer-information

MAT2 Employer Training Grants are based on availability of funds. For more information, contact the TIA MAT2 team at: wda-mat2@michigan.gov.
