M-59 reconstruction update: Romeo Plank Road at M-59 will close again for 10 days

UPDATES:

As part of ongoing work on M-59 (Hall Road), the intersection at Romeo Plank Road will be closed beginning Monday for approximately 10 days, the last of two 10-day closures. While M-59 remains open, access to Romeo Plank Road will be blocked. The posted detours will be 19 Mile Road, from south of M-59, or 21 Mile Road, from north of M-59, to Garfield Road to M-59. Drivers are reminded that it is illegal to use private property to avoid construction closures.

Businesses will always have access, although entry may need to be adjusted during the project. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project as well.

 

PROJECT DETAILS:

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is continuing its $60 million investment to reconstruct M-59 (Hall Road) in Macomb County, with phase II between Dalcoma Drive, just west of Garfield Road, and Romeo Plank Road.

 

The project includes replacing concrete with asphalt, improving drainage, upgrading ramps to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and installing new sidewalks to fill in the missing gaps along M-59. Work also includes installing new modern traffic signals, replacing signs, enhancing landscaping, and adding decorative crosswalks.

SAFETY BENEFIT:

This project will maintain safety with a smoother driving surface, improved drainage, and updated road signs. Pedestrian access will be improved as well.
