The Michigan Department of Corrections is committed to providing our employees with up-to-date information as it relates to our efforts in dealing with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Starting next week, the MDOC will send out a weekly message on Wednesdays which will include employee recognitions, upcoming events, prisoner COVID-19 cases and more.
In August, Assistant Deputy Director Beverly Smith presented the following agents with Good Government Coins symbolizing Excellence for their work supervising a caseload that maintained an 80% employment rate over the second quarter of the year.
Livingston County Agent Brent Agnew, Monroe County Agent Maribel Alvarado, Monroe County Agent Devyn Rogers, Monroe County Agent Ryan Rupp and Washtenaw Probation Agent Jeremy Priest.
We join ADD Smith, Region 9 Manager Brock Dietrich and Supervisors Chance Dalzell, Jason Maue and Rodney Pollard in congratulating the agents and thanking them for their hard work.

Thursday, Sept. 15 the Michigan Department of Corrections Shooting Team Organization's 2022 MDOC Director's Teams will participate in the 84th Michigan Police Pistol Match. The match will be held at the R.V. Gray Pistol Range in Jackson starting at 8 a.m.

Friday, Sept. 16 the Michigan Department of Corrections will host the Lower Peninsula Doug Vasbinder Academy Class Graduation at the Lansing Center in Lansing at 1 p.m.

Each day an emoji is posted on SECC’s social media sites. Visit the MISECC on Facebook or Twitter each day to capture the 'Emoji of the Day'. The MDOC is no longer reporting positive COVID-19 staff test results in our COVID Updates or on our website. Staff will still be notified if they are a close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
On September 14, there were 31 new positive prisoner cases to report. This information includes results from Tuesday, September 13. Positive cases include:
Alger Correctional - 19
Chippewa Correctional - 5
Charles E. Egeler Reception & Guidance Center - 4
Macomb Correctional - 2
St. Louis Correctional - 1
*Results are downloaded each afternoon and are reported after they are added into the medical record following receipt of information from labs.
