OPPS Secretary Jackie Podsiadlik was recently presented with a Teamwork Coin for her willingness to take on additional duties. In July of 2020, Jackie volunteered to complete the secretarial duties at the EMC after the unit secretary retired. As of May 21, the State of Michigan has administered 8,021,768 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. For more information, or to find your nearest vaccine distribution site, visit Michigan.gov/CovidVaccine or call 211. |
As of yesterday, 19,768 MDOC prisoners have received either both doses of the Moderna vaccine or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series.
More than 600 additional prisoners are currently partially vaccinated following their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.
*Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website. As a result of the most recent assessment, today's data includes 99 additional deaths identified by this methodology. Corrections made to the provisional case data resulted in a net daily count of 86 deaths.
It is more important than ever for everyone to remain vigilant and continue to take steps to help break the chain of infection and slow the spread, both while at work and while in the community.
