MDOC Employee COVID-19 Vaccine Survey

As the COVID-19 vaccine begins its distribution across the state, we want to learn from our employees the level of interest in taking this important, safe and free vaccine.

We have created a survey which you can find here, where you will indicate whether you wish to take the vaccine or not, as well as your work site location and the county in which you work. Take the survey HERE.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services unveiled its plan for vaccine distribution last week, and as a reminder, our healthcare staff who provide direct care, including QMHPs and behavioral health, will be the first MDOC employees to be able to receive the vaccine and fall into Group B of the 1A Priority Three category.

All other facility employees will fall under Phase 1B.

These decisions on the order of employees receiving the vaccine comes from DHHS. We are awaiting further guidance on when these vaccinations will begin but it will differ across the state. We are coordinating with the local county health departments and when staff can receive the vaccine will be dependent on their schedule for their county.

We are advocating to have our employees receive the vaccine as soon as is possible.

There is not a requirement or mandate that employees or prisoners take the vaccine.

If you have questions about the vaccine, DHHS has prepared a document with a series of questions and answers here

Please ensure you take the survey by 5:00 p.m. EST, Thursday, December 17.

If you have questions, please consult with your chain of command. You can also send questions to AskMDOC@michigan.gov.
