Belle Isle partners to present at April 7 education-based 'listening session'

Education-based Belle Isle stakeholders and partner agencies will present information about their current Belle Isle programs and attractions at a "listening session" set for Monday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, 1928 East Lakeside Drive, Belle Isle, Detroit.

Administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, this listening session will give agencies and organizations associated with Belle Isle the opportunity to showcase their island projects, while at the same time giving the DNR the opportunity to learn about these many ongoing efforts. Presentations will be five to 10 minutes apiece.

The public is invited to attend and observe, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Belle isle is home to unique natural and historical features that already make the island an engaging, one-of-a-kind outdoor classroom for K-12 learners and students at the university and research level,” said Kristin Phillips, DNR Marketing and Outreach Division chief. “We want to understand more about our partners' educational programs and activities so we can best align DNR resources in ways that will enhance learning opportunities for every island visitor."

DNR staff from several divisions and program areas - including Marketing and Outreach, Parks and Recreation and the Michigan Historical Center - will be at the session to hear presentations and facilitate communication.
