Dear Outdoor Enthusiast ,

In compliance with Public Act 288, Section 72118 (2)(c), the Department of Natural Resources hereby provides notice of the intent to open or close certain forest roads on state lands to off-road vehicles, conventional vehicles, or both. You can view specific proposed changes and road locations in detail beginning Nov.1 at Michigan.gov/ForestRoads. Some of these proposed changes may be on lands located within your jurisdiction.

The proposed changes are based on DNR staff site reviews and comments received from the public. A summary of the changes, as well as the primary reasons for the changes, is available on the “Road Inventory Review 2019 Summary.” Additional details are on the website.

Comments may be submitted from Nov. 1 to Dec.1. Use the interactive map on the website or send us an email. The formal information memo to the DNR Director will be submitted at the scheduled January 2020 Natural Resources Commission meeting. The final land use order will be submitted for action by the Director at the February 2020 NRC meeting. Comments will also be accepted at each of the NRC meetings.

If you have any questions, please contact Kerry Wieber, Forest Land Administrator at 989-348-6371 x7441 (office) or 517-643-1256 (cell).
