Request for Proposals to Evaluate Great Lakes Restoration Impacts
The OGL is announcing a Request for Proposals for a research
project to value the economic impact of restoration work conducted by
its Areas of Concern Program.
The selected project
team will develop a modeling tool to support the program. The information
produced by the tool will help inform decisions and provide data to
demonstrate the economic value of Great Lakes restoration activities.
The grant program
will occur in two phases. The first phase will provide up to $100,000 to develop
conceptual diagrams, assess available ecosystem modeling tools, and analyze existing
economic research. The second phase allows for up to $200,000 to develop the
tool.

The Michigan Areas of Concern Program is a
partnership of federal, state, and local actors that restores sites in the
Great Lakes region with environmental damage. Two sites in Michigan have been restored. Twelve are in
various stages of restoration. Activities include habitat restoration, removal
of contaminated material, and green infrastructure installation.
