Jacobetti celebrates 45 years caring for veterans
45 years serving veterans on Fisher Street. We're proud of the care and quality of life delivered at the Jacobetti - and ecstatic about the replacement Jacobetti home currently being constructed in Marquette Twp. On Aug.8, and the week leading up to it, we hada birthday party for the Jake: a week filled with games, music, outings, memories, plentiful food, and fun. The week-long party culminated with a generous gift from Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 35-1, who for the last twelve years have raised funds and then stopped by the Jake to present a check. This year, that gift brought their total gift amount to $100,000 to the Jacobetti. Incredible, inspiring, and humbling. Thanks to CVMA 35-1, and to all that helped us celebrate this special place, and all the special people that have made it their home, workplace, or place of volunteering over the decades. Happy Birthday, to the Jake!
 Generosity funds new WhisperGlide swing at Chesterfield Twp.
We're able to do more for veterans at MVH, thanks to the generosity of our many supporters. MVH at Chesterfield Twp. recently acquired a WhisperGlide swing for its wheelchaired members, thanks to the amazing generosity of the Four County Community Foundation, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19. As pictured, it's already being put to good use.

 Registration opens for 'Veterans Day 5' event at Grand Rapids
Mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. MVH at Grand Rapids will be hosting their annual 'Veterans Day 5' event at the veterans home, with options for a 5 miler, a 5k, or a 0.5-mile Remembrance Walk. A community-facing event for persons of all ages and abilities that support our veterans, the morning includes some great exercise based on individual desire/ability, a community breakfast, and great camaraderie - and you're out before noon!

MVH D.J. Jacobetti recently had the opportunity to host and share updates with Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist. The Lt. Gov. stopped by to visit with veterans, staff, and leadership, to hear updates on the new construction, and to share his gratitude for the exceptional care the team has provided and continues to provide to veterans that make it their home. We're always proud - and grateful - to share our impact with our elected leaders, ensuring they have firsthand knowledge of the members, mission, and impact of MVH. Thanks for visiting, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist!
 Senator Gary Peters tour new Jacobetti construction site on farewell motorcycle tour, reflecting on his years of support for veteran homes
It was a busy month at Jacobetti, as U.S. Senator Gary Peters stopped by the new construction site for the replacement Jacobetti to tour the site, get updates, and share his gratitude for MVH's work throughout his terms in the Senate. The visit was a stop on the Senator's annual motorcycle tour around the State. The Senator was met upon arrival, and a tour was led by MVH D.J. Jacobetti Interim Administrator Chris LaJoie and Assistant Construction Superintendent Logan Staley, and joined also by MVH's Board Treasurer Brad Slagle, Marquette County Veterans Alliance Chair Jim Provost, and MVH Director of Development & Strategic Engagement Ryan Engle. Following the tour, each gave brief remarks on the incredible impact the project will have for U.P. veterans, after which the Senator and LaJoie took questions and interviews, and the Senator roared out of the site on his Harley Davidson.
 A Calorically-filled quality of life, at MVH at Grand Rapids
We strive to provide veterans the quality of life they earned, and deserve. It's an inseparable part of the entire care experience. At MVH at Grand Rapids, they recently had their always-enjoyed cookie contest where veteran members and staff teamed up to create a wide variety of cookies. The goods were then tasted for palatability, and awards were presented to the most brilliant of bakers.
While just a few awards were delivered, there aren't really any losers when it comes to baking and tasting cookies. Quality of life: it tastes better at MVH.
