The Bureau of Emergency Preparedness, EMS, and Systems of Care (BEPESoC), Division of Emergency Preparedness and Response (DEPR) invites all local health departments and tribes to attend the virtual Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop (IPPW) on April 27th, 2026. The meeting will be held on Microsoft Teams from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
An IPPW provides the opportunity to collaboratively review preparedness priorities and update the Integrated Preparedness Plan (IPP). Through coordinated planning, we can:
- Prevent duplication of effort.
- Ensure resources are used efficiently.
- Maximize the impact of preparedness activities.
This workshop is the second in a series of IPPWs. Your participation is essential to ensure a collaborative, coordinated approach to statewide preparedness. We look forward to your engagement in this important planning effort.
Join us every fourth Tuesday of the month at noon to learn more about DEPR's different programs and software. This month’s topic will be National Ski Patrol.
There is now a CERC training available on MI-TRAIN that will meet the NIMS requirement for a basic CERC training for PIO and others. Please contact Jessica or Katie if you have any questions.

Public health communicators play a critical role in preparing communities for complex emergencies, including radiological events. On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (ET) radiation readiness communications expert Jessica Wieder will share insights from her career in radiological preparedness and emergency communications during a webinar hosted by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO).
The discussion will explore key considerations for effective risk communication, including coordinating messages across agencies, addressing public concerns, and countering misinformation. Participants will also learn about practical tools and resources designed to strengthen preparedness planning and support state, local, and territorial public health partners working to deliver clear, trusted information during emergencies.
