In the September 5 edition of the PHEP Update the due date for completing Module 8 of the Roots of Health Inequity course was incorrectly stated as September 18 in the Upcoming Events section. The correct due date was September 15 (see page 19 of the LHD work plan). Anyone who has yet to complete this module should complete it by Friday, September 19.
The next new EPC orientation is scheduled for October 16. If you are interested in attending, please contact Jim Koval.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Emergency Preparedness and Response (MDHHS/DEPR) and the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) have partnered since 2011 to provide a learning management system (LMS), MI-TRAIN, to offer emergency management courses to partners across disciplines. Beginning in fall 2025, MSP is moving to a new LMS, Cornerstone, for all its courses and conferences.
MDHHS/DEPR continues to support the MI-TRAIN system and users will maintain access to their training histories within the system. MDHHS/DEPR and other partners will continue to host classes and conferences on MI-TRAIN. No accounts will be manually deactivated during the MSP transition. If prerequisites for classes in Cornerstone need certificates currently stored in MI-TRAIN, it is the user’s responsibility to upload them into Cornerstone.
More on the transition of MSP/EMHSD to Cornerstone:
- MSP will begin the transition to Cornerstone on October 1, 2025. This applies to classes and conferences.
- Classes currently scheduled through November 15 will remain on MI-TRAIN.
- All classes after November 15 will be on Cornerstone.
- If you have already registered for a course after November 15, the goal is to transfer your registration information to the new system, but the capability of this is currently unknown.
- Tutorials on how to sign on, create your profile, and register for courses are being developed and will be shared as soon as they are available.
- MSP will discontinue use of MI-TRAIN effective December 31, 2025.
After December 30, 2025, you will need to contact the MI-TRAIN Help Desk at mi-train@michigan.gov for any assistance with MI-TRAIN.
MDHHS and MSP will continue to support partners impacted by this transition and will share more information as it becomes available.
The Michigan Volunteer Registry (MVR) held the first training for the New MVR Platform (CORES RMS). The training was presented by Juvare and recorded. The recording can be accessed through MI-TRAIN (link below). If you were unable to attend the live session, please review the training prior to the migration on Tuesday, September 30.
The second session of the two-part administrator training will be held on September 24 from noon to 2:00 p.m. EPCs should have received an invitation to the training. If you did not or need it sent again, please contact Elizabeth Shepard.
The Michigan Volunteer Registry (MVR) will be conducting an educational drill for the new CORES RMS operating system on Tuesday October 14 and Wednesday October 15. The purpose of this drill is to demonstrate the query, groups, and notifications functions used during an actual volunteer response. Three 60-minute training sessions will be offered both days of the drill. Attendees must complete at least one training session on either day to fulfill workplan requirements.
Please use the link below to sign up for a session and MVR staff will send you a calendar appointment.
