NACCHO Roots of Health Inequity Course

Local PHEP SharePoint Site Coming Soon!

The local PHEP SharePoint site is nearing completion. In the coming weeks, EPCs will receive an email invitation from their regional POC to join the site. This site will house information, documents, and other materials related to the local PHEP workplan and will replace the PHEP mailbox for deliverable submission.

New Exercise Framework Planner Template Available

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed this optional Framework Planner PowerPoint template, which will enable recipients to produce a visual depiction of how they plan to go about conducting the required discussion and operations -based exercises during the 2024-2028 PHEP NOFO performance period. The template allows recipients to create a visual that can be easily shared with and understood by internal and external partners to aid in exercise planning and implementation efforts.

Join ChemPrep Connect - NACCHO's Chemical Preparedness Virtual Community

To support local health departments in preparing for and responding to chemical emergencies the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) has launched the ChemPrep Connect Virtual Community. This virtual community serves as a secure platform to collaborate and discuss monthly topics, share best practices and resources, and seek peer advice, enhancing readiness for chemical emergencies.

FEMA Published Updated Resource on Developing Emergency Operations Plans

In May of 2025, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, May 2025, Version 3.1. “The guide provides methods for planners to:

• Conduct community-based planning to engage the whole community through a planning process that represents the actual population in the community and involves community leaders and the private sector.
• Develop plans by identifying and analyzing risk.
• Identify operational assumptions and resource demands.
• Prioritize plans and planning efforts to support the transition from development to execution for any threat or hazard; and
• Integrate and coordinate efforts across all levels of government, the private sector and nonprofit organizations.” (CPG 101, p. i)

ASTHO's Public Health Nursing Workforce Learning Lab Series Kicks Off Soon

Facilitated by Shirley Orr, executive director of the Association of Public Health Nurses, and supported by ASTHO's A.C. Rothenbuecher, MPH, director of workforce, and Allison Budzinski, MSW, CAPSW, senior workforce analyst, this virtual series is designed for public health professionals working in governmental agencies. Participants will explore real-world strategies to address today's nursing workforce challenges, including staffing shortages, burnout, and evolving role expectations.

The five-part series also offers a collaborative space to strengthen leadership skills, apply systems thinking, and share tools and ideas with peers across the country.

Webinar: Disaster Preparedness for Parents with Disabilities

The Lurie Institute for Disability Policy at Brandeis University and the National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities are hosting a webinar on emergency preparedness for parents with disabilities. Presenters will discuss preparedness planning for individuals with disabilities, including assembling an emergency kit, sheltering in place, and navigating emergency situations. Advisory Board members of the National Research Center for Parents with Disabilities will share perspectives based on their personal experiences with emergency planning and response.
