During the annual Hometown Health Hero and Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion award ceremony held on April 9, the Barry-Eaton District Health Department and the Oakland County Health Division were presented with the Jean Chabut Health Policy Champion award for their Project Public Health Ready re-recognition achieved in 2024.

Five new data science and informatics training plans, curated by the Public Health Foundation (PHF) through work with subject matter experts and in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology (OPHDST) were posted to the entire TRAIN Affiliate Network.
The objective is to make data science and informatics training easier to find and access. The training plans are intended to provide learners with an organized collection of curated courses. It does not require pre-requisites, completion of a specific number of courses, or completion in a particular sequence.
To promote and protect health in every community, data modernization is one of the three focus areas for the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). One of the five priorities of the CDC’s Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) is developing a state-of-the-art workforce with next-generation skills for actionable public health insights. All the training plans are available on MI-TRAIN.
The Kent County Health Department will be hosting the TEEX MGT-319 Point of Dispensing, Planning, and Response class this coming September.

Beginning April 1, NACCHO’s preparedness workgroups will be accepting application for 2025-2026 with terms beginning July 1. Workgroup members serve an advisory role in developing programs and policy that are representative of the needs of local health departments.
