May 5-11, 2024 is Drinking Water Awareness Week! This awareness week encourages all Michiganders to recognize and appreciate the vital role water plays in our daily lives.
May 9th is Private Residential Well Awareness Day in Michigan, bringing attention to the 2.6 million Michiganders who depend on private wells for their drinking water. Find out more and help raise awareness at Drinking Water Week (michigan.gov).
Of course, here at the MDHHS Division of Environmental Health, every week is drinking water awareness week! Our statewide Care for MI Drinking Water Project offers resources and tools to help Michiganders learn more about their drinking water so that they can make educated decisions to protect their health.
- The Care for MI Drinking Water website provides information about drinking water sources, contaminants, and best practices.
- The Care for MiWell page provides information for private residential well owners regarding proper private well maintenance, drinking water testing, and how to understand test results.
If you're interested in sharing drinking water materials with your local community, visit the Care for MiWell Promotion Toolkit to view, download, and print materials or request to have them mailed to you directly.
