New Childhood Lead Tutorial
A new online tutorial “How to Query Childhood Lead Data on MiTracking” is now available. The tutorial shows users how to access blood lead data for children under age 6. The Michigan Environmental Public Health Tracking (MiTracking) program and the Michigan Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) worked together to create the tutorial.
CLPPP publishes annual reports containing Michigan blood lead data, which became available on MiTracking in 2021. Data are updated twice a year and are available before the CLPPP annual report. Early access better supports childhood lead initiatives.
Explore childhood lead data on the MiTracking data portal, which are available at the state, county and zip code levels from 2010 through 2022. MiTracking also has data for Michigan children with elevated blood lead levels of 3.5 µg/dL and higher.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) updated its elevated blood lead level definition in May 2022. The update followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) change. MDHHS announced additional childhood blood lead data on the MiTracking data portal in October 2022.
Visit Mi Lead Safe for more information about lead hazards, blood lead testing and lead services.
