Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Epi Work Plan was an annual deliverable for the PHEP cooperative agreement. The 2022-23 Epi Work Plan along with supplemental guidance is attached. The Enhanced Analysis portion of the work plan will be distributed in December 2022. Completed work plans are due August 4, 2023.
As a reminder, the EPC’s responsibility is to assure the Epi Work Plan deliverables are submitted. The EPC is not responsible for completing the deliverables. If you have any questions, reach out to your PHEP point of contact or your regional epidemiologist.
A copy of the PHEP Work Plan for Local Health Departments for BP4 v.2.0 was sent out to all LHD EPCs on September 29th. The Michigan Volunteer Registry (MVR) staff will host a virtual volunteer management training session on Wednesday, October 19, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
The target audiences for this optional training course are: EPCs, new MI Volunteer Registry administrators, and those who were unable to take the volunteer management training session held on August 16.
The goals of this training session are to: • Review updates to the MVR's Emergency Response Volunteer Management
Guide • Increase confidence in your volunteer management skills • Ensure an adequate, competent volunteer workforce by promoting
successful volunteer retention, engagement, and recognition • Build the relationship and lines of communication between the MVR team
and administrators • Share our love for volunteers!
Please note: This is not the quarterly MI Volunteer Registry training hosted by Susan Puls. Also, some of the topics covered in this training are also included in the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Unit Leader Training course and the MRC Unit Factors for Success. MRC unit coordinators are still welcome to attend, portions of this training session may be a review for them.
Contact Stephanie Steele if you have any questions.
REMINDER: The next PHEP Partners meeting will take place on October 13 at 1:30 pm (ET). A draft agenda is attached in this article.
Effective October 2, 2022, the Bureau of EMS, Trauma, and Preparedness became the Bureau of Emergency Preparedness, EMS and Systems of Care (BEPESOC). The Division of EMS and Trauma has been working for years with internal and external stakeholders to initiate and implement programs in support of Systems of Care, specifically stroke and STEMI (ST elevation myocardial infarction – type of cardiac event). In the current Governor’s Budget, dedicated funds to accomplish this important work were authorized. The Division of EMS and Trauma has also been renamed the Division of EMS and Systems of Care (DESOC).
