Dear Immunization Partners,
Please review the following COVID-19 vaccine update on Pfizer COVID-19 monovalent vaccine ordering.
PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE MONOVALENT ORDERING
- MDHHS has received reports from providers that recent monovalent Pfizer vaccine shipments contain short-dated vaccine, expiring 11/30/2022.
- CDC has confirmed that Pfizer monovalent vaccine will have a shorter shelf life until further notice. We will continue to keep providers updated as additional information becomes available. .
- Please only order Pfizer COVID-19 monovalent vaccine that can be used prior to 11/30/2022 to reduce wastage due to expiration.
- We have received reports regarding short-dated Pfizer vaccine for both the primary series monovalent gray cap (12 years and older) and the monovalent orange cap (5 years through 12 years).
- NOTE: This does not apply to shipments of the Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine.
Additional information on ordering is available on our COVID-19 Provider Guidance website’s Orders & Shipments page. Please be proactive in your vaccine planning needs.
