'MI Shot to Win' Sweepstakes
Teens with the vaccine can register to win in the
college scholarship drawing
Michigan teens have a drawing all their own in the MI Shot to Win Sweepstakes. Kids between ages 12-17 have the opportunity to win a scholarship prize.
To enter, a teen must have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by July 30 and register for the drawing at www.MiShotToWin.com.
Each scholarship drawing prize consists of a four-year Michigan Education Trust (MET) charitable tuition contract (valued at $55,000) that may be used to pay for tuition and mandatory fees at a college or university in accordance with MET terms and conditions.
There's an added bonus for parents, too. An adult who gets a shot today is eligible to win $50,000 in the daily drawing. The first $50,000 prize winners were announced last week and more will be announced this week. See official rules for full list of daily drawing registration deadlines.
The sweepstakes began July 1 and ends on Aug. 3, 2021. Eligibility criteria for each of the drawings is at: www.MIShotToWin.com.

TONIGHT: Gen-Z Town Hall
The State of Michigan is hosting the next in a series of community town halls tonight at 5:30 p.m. with young adults and medical experts speaking on behalf of and to Gen-Z about the COVID-19 vaccine.
The event will be moderated by Danielle El-Amin, strategic advisor to Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist. Joining her on the panel are:
- Christina El Zarka, University of Michigan student, Save Summer 2021 founder
- Dr. Joseph Fakhoury, MD, FAAP, Bronson Pediatric Medicine Hospital Specialists
- Durrell Hill, eligibility specialist at the State of Michigan, and Central Michigan Graduate Student
-
Twin Doctors Jay Jeremy and Jermaine Hogstrom, DO, resident physicians, Authority Health Internal Medicine
- Javon Shell, director of digital content strategy, Cleveland Cavaliers
- Ally Telfor, Michigan State University 2021 recent graduate
To date, only 39.8% of eligible Michigan residents aged 20-29 have received at least one dose of the authorized COVID-19 vaccine. The 16-19 eligible age group is just slightly higher at 40.3%. Yet, as variants of the COVID-19 virus spread and hospitalizations continue in the unvaccinated population, it’s vitally important to help those who have yet to get vaccinated understand the importance of protecting themselves through vaccinating.
This builds upon virtual conversations that have been held with faith-based leaders, communities of color, older adults, first ladies in the faith community, local government, parents and families, and Spanish and Arabic communities, about the safety, efficacy and importance of the COVID-19 vaccines for safely reopening Michigan. Michigan will continue to host additional town halls in partnership with public health and community leaders.
