New Process Allocates Vaccines for Enrolled Providers through Local Health Departments
Nearly 3,000 provider practices of all kinds have enrolled in the COVID-19 vaccination program. These practices are an important part of the strategy to vaccinate 70% of Michiganders 16 years and older. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has recently experienced great success engaging a small number of providers who submitted applications. Initial reports indicate the 22 Community Pilot Project sites have met their goals, successfully vaccinating at-risk populations.
Local Providers Begin Administering COVID-19 Vaccine
Last week, MDHHS launched a pilot program in collaboration with local health departments to allocate vaccine to COVID enrolled providers. Through the pilot program, over 50 local providers have received or are scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccine to administer to communities most in need.
Next week, MDHHS will expand this pilot of COVID-19 vaccine allocations to enable local health departments to directly allocate to other COVID enrolled providers within their communities. On a weekly basis, local health department will work with primary care providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Dialysis Centers, and other COVID enrolled providers to reduce barriers to access and improve reach at a community level.

COVID-19 Vaccine Survey for Enrolled Providers
MDHHS recently sent a survey to some enrolled providers to collect detailed information about populations they have the ability to serve. This data will be provided to the local health departments so they understand the populations that can be served by each provider practice as we move to this new phase of vaccine allocation.
If you did not receive a survey, or did not respond to the survey, you do not need to take action to participate. All enrolled providers are still eligible to receive vaccine.
As more vaccine is becoming available, expansion to the number of providers who can administer vaccines is expected. MDHHS looks forward to the time when all providers can receive all the vaccine needed to serve their patients.
